The Legal Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to attorneys in a dynamic environment.
The ideal candidate will have 2–7 years of prior legal secretary or legal assistant experience, with a strong background in litigation. Experience in banking law is a plus. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and clerical support to six attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling, and coordinating meetings.
- Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and presentations.
- Handle electronic court filings (e-filing) in federal, state, and local courts.
- Maintain case files, discovery materials, and client documents in both electronic and physical formats.
- Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, binders, and witness materials.
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel in a professional manner.
- Track deadlines, court dates, and ensure compliance with procedural requirements.
- Perform data entry, prepare expense reports, and manage billing support as needed.
- Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create and edit legal and business documents.
- Support attorneys with various special projects and firm initiatives.
Qualifications:
- 2–7 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, or similar role in a law firm.
- Litigation experience required; banking law experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with advanced skills in Word.
- Familiarity with legal terminology, court procedures, and e-filing processes.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to juggle multiple assignments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- College degree preferred but not required.
- Ability to hit the ground running and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
