Energy and Land Title

Metz Lewis counsels multiple energy, oil, gas, and mineral-related clients on matters related to title issues, opinions, and division order title opinions in the Appalachian Basin. Our attorneys approach each title issue pragmatically and provide our clients with sound counsel, creative solutions, and a reliable product. Additionally, we support land departments with their everyday drafting needs including but not limited to rights-of-way agreements, MSAs, oil and gas leases, ODMA filings, oil and gas assignments, deeds, and other agreements.

Transactional

Metz Lewis’s strong transactional background extends to providing comprehensive deal services to energy clients. As clients work to acquire or divest assets, our dedicated due diligence team assists in every phase of a transaction from initial negotiations, to identification of defects and curative, and through post-closing due diligence. We also support energy clients with drafting and reviewing acquisition-related documents such as purchase and sale agreements, assignments, letters of intent, Farm-Outs, JOAs, RBLs, ratifications and midstream agreements.

Litigation

We represent numerous E&P’s in litigation arising from the development, production, and distribution of oil and gas in established sectors as well as emerging technologies. We represent clients across a spectrum of disputes from business litigation to environmental, regulatory, and mass tort actions, including multi-district litigation in federal and state courts as well as arbitral and regulatory tribunals throughout the United States.
