Sarah Shields is a financing and corporate attorney who advises borrowers, lenders, and public and private companies on a range of transactional matters.
Her experience includes acquisition financings, refinancings, repricings, and amendments, as well as securities law and corporate governance matters.
Sarah approaches each matter by first understanding the client’s business objectives and then identifying the legal and commercial issues that could affect the transaction. She works closely with clients and deal teams to anticipate potential issues, coordinate due diligence and deal execution, draft transaction documents, and manage closing processes. Her goal is to provide clear, practical guidance while keeping matters moving efficiently and making the legal process as seamless as possible.
Known for being responsive, organized, collaborative, and calm under pressure, Sarah brings both a legal and business perspective to her work. Her undergraduate business education complements her experience in finance and capital markets, helping her understand clients’ commercial objectives and tailor legal solutions that support those goals.
Sarah is energized by helping clients solve complex business problems and contributing to transactions that help companies grow and achieve their goals. She is committed to pro bono service, including matters involving housing justice, assisting survivors of domestic violence, and immigration. Outside the office, Sarah enjoys attending concerts, traveling, and spending time with family. As she returns home to Western Pennsylvania, she looks forward to becoming involved in the Pittsburgh community.
