Data breaches are becoming a daily news event and virtually every business is vulnerable to this emerging threat. It may come at the hands of a hacker hijacking personally identifiable information for profit, a rogue employee out to sully a company’s reputation, or a “hactivist” brandishing malicious software to advance its agenda. It is every company’s responsibility to protect its own data, as well as its customers’ and its employees’ confidential data, or risk facing substantial regulatory fines, penalties, and legal liability.
