This is a warning about the latest round of scams in which fraudsters pretend to be from the IRS.

DO NOT OPEN EMAILS FROM THE IRS.

The IRS will never contact you by email to tell you that you are owed a refund, to remind you of a filing deadline or for any other reason.

Emails that purport to come from the Internal Revenue Service are fake. Such emails are trojan horses to get your password, PIN number or other private information. If the fraudster gets that information, you may suffer financial damage.

The IRS uses no social media, instant messaging, email or telephone to reach you. You will be contacted by the IRS by U. S. mail.

Remember! The IRS AIN’T ON FACEBOOK.
