The IRS has issued a formal and expanded release on the April 15, 2020, deadline for 2019 federal income tax returns.

July 15, 2020 remains the new due date for all calendar year 2019 returns for individuals, trusts, estates, and entities (such as LLCs and S Corporations) with April 15th due dates.

Importantly, the delay in payments from April 15th until July 15th, 2020 will now apply to all amounts due, even those above one million dollars – this is a change worth attention if you had a good year. Also note, there is nothing that needs to be filed to obtain the extensions of time and payment, these are totally automatic.

For taxpayers in Pennsylvania, the filing and payment due dates for 2019 local earned income tax returns have also been extended until July 15, 2020, for those filing with Keystone and Berkheimer. Those who file with Jordan must await further news, as Jordan is still thinking it over.
